Honyokers; One, Two, Three?

Honyokers

One, Two, Three?

Heather White

Some homesteaders really aren’t sure how many eggs a chicken can lay in one day. “Honyokers” as they were called back in the 1880’s meant people who chased chickens. Basically, didn’t know much about them. The most a chicken can lay in one day, is one egg. Most chickens lay 4-5 eggs a week. The Australorp breed came close to 7 eggs a week with a record whopping 364 eggs in 365 days! Chickens average is still 4-5 eggs per week.
