Seed Oils and Nut Oils healthy?

Today more than ever health has been at the forefront of our daily lives. When you read about new fad’s, what is good to eat what is now bad, isn’t it funny how what we ate before was actually healthy for us. Coffee bad, real butter bad, raw milk bad, lard bad. Today, we find that the new “Seed Oils” and “Nut Oils” are very unhealthy. Today they are touted as “Healthy” which is far from the truth, just another way to deceive the public.  Not only from the way seed/nut oils are grown, but how they are processed is simple unhealthy, bad for your heart and gut health.

Now when you read “Lard is bad” my answer would be yes and no. Yes, if the hog is raised using conventional feed which as been sprayed with chemicals; I would totally agree; wouldn’t eat that either. If it was hydrogenated (processed) totally terrible as well.  However, if the hog was pasture raised, fed GMO free food or organic, then we are talking a totally healthy difference.  If the lard was processed with low, slow heat, then jarred up totally safe and healthy.

You may read Lard causes heart disease according to journal of heath. Well look at who paid for the study? A seed/nut oil company? Who makes money off lard? There isn’t a lot of money to be made in lard. The cost is minimal compared to store bought oils. Lard is healthy for your heart period end of statement.(i) Now if you have a personal choice not to eat lard, because it comes from a hog, then you should consume tallow (beef fat) in place of lard.  It offers a slightly different mild flavor and meets all your health needs as Lard will.

To make lard/tallow take the fat and place it in your crock-pot on low. Allow the fat to melt. Strain out all the meat bits and while hot pour in a quart canning jar. Seal tight and turn upside down on a towel. Allow to cool upside down over night. The lard/tallow will turn white and seals the top of the jar. Store upright for a year.  If you don’t have time to make your own Lard or Tallow simple purchase at Sapphire Farms with the knowledge that your fat is raised healthy and processed minimally.

How to use lard? Using lard in place of most of your normal oil. I would still recommend using organic virgin olive oil (not blended oil) for salads. Using lard to cook your eggs, baking cakes, breads and so much more.
